The internet is abuzz with the news that Twilight pair Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart has got together in Budapest (Hungary) where the 23 year old British hunk is filming his forthcoming movie “Bel Ami”.
The place provides a Twilightish setting for Pattinson who plays vampire Edward Cullen and his sweetheart Kristen aka Bella who turns into a vampire in “Breaking Dawn”. According to historians the East European countries like Romania and Hungary which was popularly known as Transylvania was the main inspiration for Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” which tells the story of the vampire Count Dracula who used to feed on female blood.
Researchers have linked Stocker’s fictional character Dracula with Transylvanian-born Vlad III Dracula of Wallachia who ruled between 1456 to1462 had ruthlessly killed 40,000 to 100,000 European civilians by impaling them on a sharp pole. Scholars claim that the Irish author came across the historical figure while he was going through Romanian history.
There are some who believe that Stocker was inspired by the tales of Countess Elizabeth Bathory who was born in Hungary. It is popularly believed that Bathory used to kill young women in order to bathe and drink their blood for staying young.
